A Work In Progress:
I went to the mountain seeking enlightenment.
There was no enlightenment on the mountain.
In desolation, I cried out and there came an echo.
I shouted again.
The echo came again.
A thunderclap under the clear blue sky
All beings on earth open their eyes;
Everything under heaven bows together;
Mount Sumeru leaps up and dances.
Practice virtue well;
Subdue your mind:
This is the Buddha’s teaching.
The ten thousand things rise and fall while the Self watches their return.
They grow and flourish and then return to the source.
Returning to the source is stillness, which is the way of nature.
The way of nature is unchanging.
Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching, Verse 16
All this is very easy to understand. Fear is the first natural enemy a man must overcome on his path to knowledge.
